The Equipment of Frozen Reaction: The Bad Guys

Exciting news! Barnes & Noble has added Frozen Reaction to their distribution network, meaning that it now can reach a far wider audience than Amazon alone! This is super exciting for me, and I hope you tell your friends to buy a copy.

Don’t forget about the contest I am running! There are two ways to win! Between now and 30 June 2020 do one or both of the following:

1: Follow @norsemancreative on Instagram, leave a review on Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble of Frozen Reaction, and send me a screen shot of the review.

2: Follow @norsemanceative on Instagram, take a picture of the book in “the wild,” and send the picture to me. Check out Zach in the featured photo for an example.

Both the best review and the best photo will receive a signed copy of Frozen Reaction and my undying gratitude. In the meantime, check out the post below for some of the equipment featured in Frozen Reaction!

Earlier, I covered the guns used by the “good” guys in Frozen Reaction, and this week, I will cover most of the guns wielded by the myriad of bad actors running around the fictionalized Minnesota countryside. Iranian operatives and their Chechen mercenaries, communist Revolutionary Independence Front members, and the occasional drug trafficker wield a wide array of firearms in their reign of terror.

While never specifically mentioned, during the opening terror attack on Broadway, I imagined that the Terrorists are armed with illegally modified AKM rifles in 7.62x39mm and utilizing drum magazines intended for RPK type light machine guns.

A semiautomatic copy of a Romanian AKM is used by Vince during a raid against a safehouse.

The VAJA operatives, Chechen Mercanaries, and others use AK74SU “Krinkov”

Conor Johnsen, the RIF leader, uses an Underfolding AKM Carbine.

RIF member Liz uses a sawed down UZI Carbine.

One of the Norseman Consulting contractors, John, uses a captured MAC-10 in .45ACP during a raid. A classic submachinegun modeled after the venerable Uzi, the MAC-10 has “phonebooth” accuracy on full auto. Unless the operator is trained and disciplined, they don’t stand a chance of hitting anything unless they are in the same phone booth as their target.

The ubiquitous AR15 is used in the Assualt on Severson Manor by RIF gangsters in support of VAJA operatives and their mercenaries.

During the climactic raid, a RIF member uses a Ruger Mini-14 in an ugly Tapco stock.

There are many shotguns used by the RIF gangsters and their allies. During the DCSO SWAT raids on the RIF Safehouse, one of the terrorists kills his buddy and then himself with a sawed off ten-gauge shotgun to prevent capture.

Many of the shotguns are Mossberg 500 series in 12 Gauge. The pump-action 500 holds six shells instead of the standard five, and are relatively inexpensive, making them widespread for both criminals and law-abiding citizens alike.

Another shotgun used is a sawed-off Remington 870.

Throughout Frozen Reaction, many “bad-guys” use Glock Pistols, especially the Glock 19 and Glock 26. Although it is never explicitly stated, VAJA operative Ardashir Khorasani carries a Glock 26 Subcompact pistol. “Alfonse” also uses a Glock 26.

Omid Mokri uses a Glock 17 at the climax.

A gangster utilizes a Bersa Thunder in .380ACP to no effect during a raid, and Liz also has one during her shootout with Norseman and Deputies Tyler and Johnson.

Conor Johnsen uses a Taurus 24/7 in .40 S&W.

Kurt Michaels takes over RIF after Conor Johnsen is killed in a shootout. His pistol of choice is a Smith & Wesson classic, a Model 39 9mm.

Another RIF gangster uses a Beretta 85 in .380 ACP before she meets her demise.

Farook, the Iranian operative that leads the assault on Severson Manor carries a Coonan .357 Magnum pistol. A large pistol, it was chosen by Farook to show how tough he was compared to the rest of his men he was supposed to be leading.

Finally, in both the assault on Severson Manor and the climax, several VAJA operative utilize the cheap and deadly RPG-7.
